SARB and Truancy officers are really a thing... as is the consequence of parents needing to go to court to account for their child's lack of attendance (or chronic tardiness). A few years back, here in California, a parent locally was sent to jail for not ensuring her two young students were attending school.
That very well could have been the case here as well. And I truly don't think Michael was considering that when he decided it was going to be a good idea to bow out of school for a month.
